Liquor Quarrel Ends in Fatal Shootout in District
In a district cafe a quarrel between Dock C. Alford, 33, and Martin Crowe, 44, over liquor selling operations ended with Alford mortally wounded. Alford staggered from care of Crowe and died in a gutter, his revolver unfired in hand. Crowe was arrested after confessing to the shooting.

Auto Cycle Crash Leaves Two Injured in Washington County
Two men were injured in a collision at Antietam Street and Summit Avenue last night around 11. Auto driver Harry Byrem of 40 East Washington Street and motorcycle operator Claude Sande of Washington were thrown from the machine. John Dunford, riding as a passenger on the tandem, suffered serious facial and limb wounds and was hospitalized. Sande had facial and hand cuts. Patrolman Brennen summoned both to city court for the morning hearing. In a separate matter, Frederick County officers will begin an intensive investigation into William Misner’s death at Washington County Hospital from burns received Monday night near Foxville. Misner, formerly of Garfield, had recently moved with his parents to White Hall.
