Washington, Oct. Chairman Dies of Texas announced last night that a document alleging Communist activity within the Washington Navy Yard and other Federal offices had been seized by the House Committee on Un-American Activities. The committee questioned Martin Chancey for hours behind closed doors as Dies said the report could be released tomorrow. A former German American Bund member testified of sabotage plans on the Pacific Coast by Bund members, with Ness asserting the Bund is an arm of the Nazi Government and capable of paralyzing the coast from Seattle to San Diego.

Count Johann Heinrich von Bernstorff longtime German ambassador to the United States and once a key Washington figure died in Geneva at nearly 77 after a heart illness.
