Mount Carroll area assault case alarms Moun tains
Three Uettysburg State policemen are tracking a suspect in the Mount Carroll section of Orttanna after he allegedly assaulted Miss Pauline Naugle, 15, hiding near the Vance home and drugging her with a chloroform rag. Miss Margaret Vance, a Gettsyburg High student, encountered a similar man the day before near the mail box. she screamed and fled as the assailant fled. The attack left Miss Naugle traumatized but unharmed. Investigators say the suspect may be a traveling man and are canvassing residents for a description and motive.

Deaths Edward Curtis Arnold 63 Waynesboro resident
Edward Curtis Arnold aged 63, resident of Waynesboro and former county resident, died Sunday at his home of congestion and heart failure. He was born in 1859 at Waverton, son of Dan and Mary Arnold, and married Ida Mann in 1884. Surviving are his wife and several children, plus numerous brothers and sisters. Interment is planned Wednesday in a local cemetery.
