Major Joseph W. Byron is appointed chairman of the sub committee on hides skins and leather by Colonel Charles Hines secretary of the Army and Navy Munitions Board. The committee will study facility capacity for war material production and advise on procurement issues. Byron has prior Munitions experience including selling surplus yaw materials in France in 1919 and head of the Upper Leather Tariff Committee in 1929.
He serves as chairman of the Bag Case and Strap Division of the Tanners' Council of America and sits on the board of directors with an executive committee role, reflecting prominent leadership within the industry in 1934.
