Wheat Control Contracts Sent To Washington

Allotment contracts for 399 farmers in Washington County were rushed to Washington by automobile and delivered to the Wheat Control Administration. Checks for the first payment will be mailed after approval. The program pays 20 cents a bushel, tied to 15 percent of total wheat acres, with about seven cents per bushel paid later. About 15 applicants still must submit missing details by December 1.

Ernest C. Rowe of Fast Franklin Street brought a large four ounce egg to the Herald Mail office last night. The egg came from a Rhode Island hen owned by A. J. Fulton near Hancock, a leading poultry man and fruit grower in the state.

Attack on Former Premier Wakatsuki in Tokyo

Former Japanese premier Wakatsuki Zaron Reijiro escaped injury after two youths attacked him with a dagger near Ueno station in Tokyo. Police seized one suspect, boxer Susumu Noguchi, a long welterweight contender. the other fled. Wakatsuki, 67, long served as premier and later defended the London naval treaty.
