Ten Drown In Vessel Crash Near Carteret County
Ten people die in a collision between the menhaden vessel Southland and the tug Espect No. 4 off New York bound waterway north of here. Among the dead are B. J. Fulcher Charlie Fulcher and several Southport and Bolivia residents. Coast Guard units respond as officials say signals may have caused the crash. The Southland carried 300 000 menhaden. Espect No. 4 crew unharmed. Captain John Guthrie of Morehead City owned the Southland. Carteret Fish and Oil Company owned the vessel.

Fine Clubhouse Planned Along Potomac River

Accident Victims Improve After Week of Injuries
Two injured auto crash victims at Washington County Hospital showed improvement. Guy R. Slonaker of Martinsburg suffered fractures of both legs and other injuries when his car left the national highway near Boonsboro and hit a culvert. Four year old James Pentz of Greencastle, struck by a car at Baltimore and Jefferson streets, was on the way to recovery after sustaining a fractured skull, broken left arm and fractured hip. The Pentz child was hit by Seth Dentler of Greencastle as his mother crossing with him let go his hand. The boy was carried about 40 feet on the car bumper.

Mother and infant drown in farm well near Monroeville
In Norwalk Ohio a 23 year old mother Mrs Edwin Hoenck and her one month old daughter Shirley Ann died Friday after falling into a 12 foot open well at their farm home near Monroeville. Coroner Dr J D Bradish ruled the death accidental. The father Edward Rahrig found the bodies saying Shirley likely fell in first and Ruth died trying to save her.
