The National Youth Administration will employ about 150 youths in Washington County to clean brush and repair canal banks along the Maryland West Virginia line and support multiple county projects. State NYA administrator R N Dempster notes 551 youths 18 to 25 are already employed locally with five active projects.

M. E. Miller announces that Haerestown street decorations will be installed over an extended Christmas period due to the Thanksgiving date. The mayor allows up to 600 dollars for decorations excluding carol broadcasts. Youth Injured In Bicycle Mishap
Robert Lanner, 100 block Fairground Avenue, sustained head cuts when his bicycle north on North Potomac Street collided with a car door opened near Public Square. He was taken to a local physician for treatment. Dr. Thurman C. Fiery, 800 block Dewey Avenue, was hospitalized after a hunting trip return vehicle overturned near Westminster. condition is not serious. Two others treated at the hospital for fractures: Jean Keller, 11, 800 block Concord Street, with a broken right arm, and George Chaney, Randolph Avenue, with a broken left arm.

Hagerstown City Hall Project Extends Toward January
City Hall in Hagerstown won’t be finished by year end with officials estimating January 1 completion after an 11 day contractor delay caused by a two week lather strike. The council authorized Mayor Sweeney and City Clerk Crowther to sign a 3000 dollar agreement for exclusive right of way between the McKee building and City Hall on North Potomac Street. For years the city paid 25 dollars monthly for use of the space used as a patrol wagon shed. The old agreement dates to July 29 1822 under prior municipal rule. The street department was also ordered to build an entrance to Commonwealth Avenue at Frederick Street and to finish a short street behind the Central equipment building.
