Pair Held For Halting Train Near Smithsburg
Two youths, David Sandbower of Smithsburg and Bruce Smith of Lantz, Md, were held in the local jail on suspicion of throwing the airbrake on an eastbound Western Maryland freight train at Smithsburg last night at 7. Constable Claude M. Ferguson nabbed them about a mile from Smithsburg while riding in a peach or chard. The freight stopped at Smithsburg station and an investigation traced the airbrake act to the two youths. They denied the charge and appeared in juvenile court this morning where Judge Harry E. Snyder reprimanded and paroled them, ordering them never to trespass on railroad property again.
