Martinsburg Youth Fatally Shot on Farm Near Falling Waters
Claude Lewis Timberlake, 17, Martinsburg High School senior, was killed Monday evening by a rifle shot on a Spring Mills Falling Waters area farm. Coroner H G Tonkin called the shooting accidental after police investigated with brothers Robert Sylvester Timberlake and friends Clinton Simpson and Ralph Butts present. Groundhog hunting with his brother preceded the tragedy. an inquest was deemed unnecessary.

Cumberland Man to Speak at Pythian Rally in Cumberland
Julius E. Schindler, Cumberland attorney and Pythian leader, will address the Knights of Pythias district meeting in Cumberland on Friday May 27 at 8:00 p.m. at the Pythian Castle. He is a Hagerstown native and 1923 Hagerstown High School honor graduate who earned an LL.M. from National University Law School. He has been Grand Prelate, chair of the Maryland Grand Lodge laws committee, and is a candidate for Grand Vice-Chancellor with plans to become Grand Chancellor in September 1939. The event includes a rank conferment by Cumberland Lodge No 60. Guests from District of Columbia, Pennsylvania and West Virginia are invited. Grand officials from Baltimore and Cumberland delegates will speak. The Cumberland delegation will also include Nelson W. Ruassler and a county commissioner.
