New York May 22 A five year effort to clear Harry L. Hoffman former motion picture operator ends in acquittal on a murder charge. He is absolved after a lengthy legal battle with the prosecution.
Hagerstown likely to be named an emergency landing field on the Washington to Pittsburgh air mail route. Alan J. Bachrach and C. Walter Baker, representing the Hagerstown Chamber of Commerce, pressed the request in Washington to Assistant Secretary Mac Cracken, who has already visited the local airport.
Assured of Fairchild Corporation cooperation in repairing airmail planes. Hagerstown cannot be a regular stop yet due to competition with big cities, but placing the airport on the official map may lead to regular landings. Hearings on Baltimore Pittsburgh and Philadelphia Pittsburgh routes continue, with Washington Pittsburgh expected first.
