Public School Meet At City Park Draws Record Crowd
About 4000 pupils from across the county join the annual Public School Athletic Meet at City Park with major contests set for the afternoon. Weather is ideal as a large crowd of parents and spectators is expected while hundreds picnic on the grounds. The event is sponsored by the Playground Athletic League of Baltimore with many local officials listed including honorary referee C. D. Bell and starter H. E. Semier and a long slate of judges, clerks, and committee members.

May Ask Removal Of Murder Trial For Rowland
Counsel for John H. Rowland 74 faces murder charges in the death of tenant Robert Tryin after a shooting at a St. James home. A venue removal petition had not yet been filed. Sheriff reports Rowland shot Irvin after a dispute over fencing a ross bed to keep Irvin’s son away from flowers. Omer T. Kaylor represents the defendant.

Velma Shirley of Berkeley Springs attempted suicide by shooting herself in the left breast at home. The bullet nearly struck the heart. she bled heavily and is in critical condition. Dr. Herbert Tobias aided her before she was moved to Martinsburg hospital. No bullet removal operation has yet been performed. Edith Myers wins Mt Sinai Hospital high standing prize in Baltimore junior class.
