104 Measures Approved In Maryland Legislature
Annapolis May 18 Gov Herbert R O Conor signed 104 acts from the 1939 legislature including 29 state wide measures and many local bond issues. A magistrates reform cuts numbers and introduces salaries, and a 1 percent lateral gas tax refund is distributed to counties on road mileage. Other actions cover liquor licenses, oyster tangers fees, shad and herring fishing, piloting vessels, truth in real estate ads, actuarial pay, insurance fees, police pensions, and hotel liability rules.

Parole Review Denied In Smithsburg Arson Case
Parole Commissioner Herman Moser refused to review the parole application of David Tracy of Smithsburg who is serving a 10 year sentence in the Maryland Penitentiary for arson. Tracy was convicted in Washington County Circuit Court and sentenced on March 14, 1933 by Judge Frank G Wagaman.
