Washington County Democrats tour Capitol and lunch
Fifty women from the Washington County Council of Democratic Women's Organizations traveled by bus to Washington to meet Congress member John R. Foley. They toured the Capitol with Mrs Foley and Mrs Doris Solomon, visiting the House, Library of Congress, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They presented Foley with a commemorative plate and also attended the annual spring luncheon of the United Democratic Women's Organization of Maryland at Indian Springs Country Club in Wheaton.

The April In Paris Ball at Fountain Head Country Club raised funds for Kemp Horn Training Center for Retarded Children in Smithsburg. Auxiliaries Sponsor Dance For Veterans
Twenty eight volunteer hospital workers from American Legion Auxiliary units in this area conducted seven years of service at the Newton D Baker Veterans Hospital near Martinsburg West Virginia last Thursday when they sponsored the last dance of the season for veterans there. Pearl and Her Twilight Five played for dancing with music supplied by a grant from the Recording Industries Trust Funds in cooperation with Local 770 American Federation of Musicians. Volunteers were present from Clapper Michael Unit 20 Boonsboro Morris Frick Unit 42 Hagerstown Dixon Troxell Unit 211 Funkstown Camp Ritchie Unit 236 and Antietam Unit 236 Sharpsburg.
