The Washington Area Council announces a six week camping period starting around July 8 at Cowan's Gap Lake, Pa. Scouts from Maryland and Pennsylvania will join, with tent living and new troop focused plans. He suffered injuries in night flying in Alabama and has been in the A T C for 14 months after further treatment in a Missouri hospital for ear puncture and sinus condition.
Vincent Bendix, 62, once a minister's runaway son who rose to lead Bendix Aviation Corp and Bendix Helicopters Inc, died of a heart attack in his New York City apartment. He had relinquished his post at Bendix Aviation three years earlier after a career built on automotive and aircraft parts inventions.
The Reconstruction Finance Corporation will sell 3000 surplus primary trainer airplanes including Fairchild PT19s Ryans and Boeings at 53 centers nationwide starting April 6. Planes priced $875 to $2,400, with single engine two seat layouts and over 90 mph cruising speed. Sales near Hagerstown at Alexandria Virginia.
