Car Crash Injures Harrisburg Man Near Huyett Cross Roads

Ross Rhoades of Harrisburg was injured when his northbound car on the Williamsport Pike was struck from behind by a truck driven by Wilbur Firlie of Cumberland at Huyett’s Cross Roads. Florence Dyer, also from Harrisburg, suffered bruises. both were thrown from the vehicle. Rhoades was hospitalized at Washington County Hospital. State Officer Schhiter investigated and summoned the principals to Magistrate Sweeney’s office next Saturday.

Public Concert by Municipal Band at The Maryland Theatre

A large crowd attended the Municipal Band concert directed by Prof. Peter Buys at The Maryland Theatre. Grace Washburn sang Blue Danube in public debut, while Robert Longstreet described Hot Time in the Old Town and Festival Overture by Lortzing drew applause. The program also included German band, darkey dance and hornpipe, and Southern Rhapsody by Hosmer. Buys announced this was the final indoor spring concert and that outdoor summer broadcasts would continue.

Boy Hurt When Struck By Auto Saturday Evening

Raymond Holton, 15, son of Mrs. Charles Holton of 922 Corbett Street, was knocked down by a car Saturday evening and rushed to Washington County Hospital. He was unconscious on arrival but reported not seriously injured. In Chicago, retailers resumed larger scale furniture purchasing last week as buyers returned to the market, spurred by expectations of rising prices, said Lawrence H.
