World’s Leading Catholic Prelate Breathes His Last At His Home
Baltimore special reports the death of James Cardinal Gibbons archbishop of Baltimore at his archiepiscopal residence shortly before noon in the eighty seventh year of life. The death followed a prolonged decline from a heavy cold and coma after delivering a sermon at Favre-de-Gracs last December. Born in Baltimore July 17 1834 he rose from errand boy to priesthood and bishop before becoming archbishop and cardinal.

Government tax take estimated at 3.05 billion

Thieves Loot 16 Hams From Williamsport Farmer Cellar
Will iam Baker of the Stake farm Williamsport reports that thieves broke into his cellar during the night and carried off sixteen hams on foot. A lock was cut and all canned lard and shoulder remained, suggesting careful, foot-transported theft without a wagon. Baker found the scene at 7 am and noted light footprints and no unusual noise.
