NEW YORK March 13 Eastern railroads announced a lowering of round trip coach fares to a minimum of 1 12 cents in line with last month’s 20 percent cut in one way fares ordered by the Interstate Commerce Commission. D T Lawrence chairman of the Traffic Executive Association explained the roads adopted a descending scale with a 2 cent fare for the first 100 mile one way distance graduated to 1 5 cents for longer distances. The new rates became effective March 28 and replace the 2 14 cent one way fare in effect for over a year on an experimental basis.
