Mammography debate and patient experiences with breast cancer screening
A reader from Homewood discusses a mammographic exam that found small lumps, the fear of bilateral mastectomy, and eventual benign results. The letter explains how mammography works to reveal small lesions and notes ongoing debates about screening frequency, age limits, and the need for biopsy to confirm cancer. It also mentions Dr. Philp Stray and Dr. Gordon Schwartz differing views and directs readers to a menopause booklet.
