Samuel Baigely, his son, expects to arrange car transport so his father can witness activities on two days. Model Engineers To Open Quarters In Hagerstown
The Ha gerstown Model Engineering Society votes to establish headquarters at 147 West Franklin Street with a rear room for meetings and classes at the Model Engineers Training School. Herman H Schneider of Landis Tool Co. demonstrates Germany trained model building with a 80 foot coach and a Five PA electric locomotive on display at the Hobby Shop. Other displays include a free lance gas electric locomotive by John Grooms and an oil well model by W M Bower showing a working derrick and oil pumps. Prospective members may contact society officers for details.

City Hall to Undergo Repairs and Bid Call
City Council asked for bids to repaper and repaint the Council Chamber and Street Board room in city hall. At a special meeting bids for 1 500 feet of fire hose were opened but no awards were made. Prices ranged from 90 cents to 1 25 dollars per foot. The Interior Department geological division estimates petroleum resources will be exhausted by 1950.

Two Lawyers Fatally Shot in Los Angeles Courtroom
A shooting in a Hall of Records superior court room left two lawyers dead. Arthur Emil Hansen, 38, confessed and said he was provoked by an adverse decision in a land dispute. Commissioner Kauffman narrowly escaped harm as the suspect fled, later captured in the jury room. Hansen was a Wakonda, South Dakota farmer.

Mother of Queen Dies in London at 76
The Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne, mother of Queen Elizabeth, died at her London home. She was 76 and had been gravely ill. King George VI and the Queen were at her bedside. Born Nina Cavendish-Bentinck, she was daughter of Rev. William Cavendish-Bentinck of the Portland ducal line.
