President Mardue's seal of approval on the million dollar Joyride of the Leviathan has failed to quell disapproval from insiders and opposition critics. A prominent Republican member and several associates declined invitations to avoid censure and congressional investigation.
The Leviathan cruise has drawn sharp criticism over public funds used for private purposes. Chairman Lasker and the Shipping Board refuse to name invitees or disclose any details of the trial trip. Congress members Connelly of Texas and Montage of Virginia call for inquiries into the matter.
T Robert Jensins a former pupil at the Hagerstown Private School with Mies Emma C Fordyce as principal has met a Tennessee standard for entering college at an unusually young age. Robert, son of Mr and Mrs T Revert Jenkins, left Hagerstown for Mies Fordyce's school at age 8 and completed primary and grammar work in four years while taking high school studies including ancient history and science. If he had remained in Baltimore he might have been ready for college by 14 or 15.

Paducah Kentucky June 19 the dead body of Gladys Tanner a young Paducah girl was found in an automobile deserted in a wood near here today. Two young men intoxicated are being held in jail for questioning in connection with the case. No arrests likely in a separate report about three local girls abducted in Frederick Saturday night. State's Attorney Wolfinger questioned the returning girls but no evidence justified arrests.
Mae Murray headlines Jazzmania at the Colonial Theatre, drawing the season’s largest crowd. The film features lush scenery, bold dances, and elaborate costumes with a Balkan queen traveling to America, sparking a republic and a romantic plot line.
Grace Simmons Kepner, about 46, member of a prominent Frederick county family, shot and killed herself at her parents country estate near Frederick. She had suffered melancholia and after talking with her parents locked herself in a room and used a revolver to end her life, dying almost instantly. Mrs. Kepner was well known socially with many friends in Frederick.
Elmer Moats pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace and was fined $25 and costs by Justice Wale following an arrest on a complaint by Mrs. Margaret Dyche of Nadison avenue. The report notes related local disorder and a broken China cabinet in the vicinity.
