House to Act on Coal Bill Next Monday
Washington June 13 With House action on the new Guffey Vinson coal control bill set for Monday the measure Friday met opposition in testimony before the Senate interstate commerce committee. Bituminous coal producers and a representative of the National Association of Manufacturers challenged the constitutionality of the bill designed to replace the original Guffey coal act invalidated by the Supreme Court. James A Emery general counsel of the manufacturers association said enactment of superficial regulatory legislation would snowball into price fixing and retard recovery. E L Greever of Tazewell Va representing coal operators opposed it saying it would cause confusion and disrupt interstate commerce. A vice president of the Consolidation Coal Co testified the bill would bring greater unsettlement than the industry has yet experienced. J Noble Snider said the NRA had benefited the coal industry temporarily.

Dissecting campaign tactics in a 1932 race
The piece critiques Republican preconvention tactics and the minority party's slanderous campaign, noting ad hoc groups and du Pont financed ruses spreading racial and religious prejudice. It argues about the limits of attacking the Roosevelt administration and questions whether the opposing candidate will curb such tactics or let them continue. Road Constructions Halted By Funds Shortage
Baltimore June 12 Dr Homer E Tabler chairman of the State Roads Commission said today that all requests for new road construction are being turned down due to lack of funds. Only roads already planned will be built as more than two dozen requests from county groups are rejected because the Legislature failed to authorize a $3 200 066 bond issue. County deficits totaled 357 670 on April 30 and will be eliminated by local levies or bond issues, Tabler added.
