Big Spring mill legacy spans two centuries in Washington County
A century of milling history along Big Spring in Washington County reveals Kuhn Mill, Bell Mill and Charles Mill once clustered along a mile of road. Descendants recall the mossy wooden wheel driven by a powerful watercourse, with Abraham Kuhn's 63 years of milling and a community centered around the mill. Ownership transitions through multiple families ended with Emory and Evelyn Metger expanding living space while preserving the mill’s original character.
