Lee answers charges of survey body

Silver Spring Md June 2 E Brooke Lee former member of the State Roads Commission defended the commission against a partisan Republican survey panel. He argued the survey report rehashes old charges of his term 1931 to 1934 and called the 1930 to 1935 accusation of illegal actions vague and politically motivated. He noted the survey panel has been ousted by a Maryland law signed by Governor Nice.

Survey Commission critique of road funds and Montgomery county

The Survey Commission report criticizes deposits of road money in Lee's banks and argues Montgomery county received more than its share. It questions the 1933 amendment cited by Lee and notes no record of such change. Lee says deposits during the 1933 bank holiday did not reduce road funds, all money was returned. The report questions whether the deposits protected banks at the expense of others or the state.
