Baltimore and Ohio questioned by federal board on Western Maryland stake
The Interstate Commerce Commission in Washington required the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad to show cause by July 2 why it should not be forced to divest its interest in the Western Maryland Railway. The 1927 purchases of Western Maryland stock, totaling large blocks across first and second preferred and common shares, were cited as violations of the Clayton act and possibly reducing competition. The commission noted plans to buy more stock and said the action could restrain commerce. no formal anti trust ruling has been issued yet as responses from the railroads are awaited.

Scouts to Camp at Pearre Maryland This Summer
Preparations for the Boy Scout Camp opening July 2 at Pearre Maryland began Wednesday as 35 scouts cleared mountain land of vines and brush despite rain. Leaders present included John B. Ferguson Frank L. Bentz Joseph Miller and Paul R. Shields. Trucks for the trip were donated by Roessner Brothers and Hagerstown Lumber Company. The camp will be on the State Game Preserve near Woodmont Rod and Gun Club grounds. A large number of scouts plan to pitch camp there. The mountain land had to be cleared to create a suitable site.
