Jets Mills Announces New Wage Code Operations

The Interwoven Mills will start under a new underwear industry code next Monday with a 12 dollar weekly 40 hour wage for experienced workers and about 8 dollars for inexperience. Plant hours 7 AM to 4 PM with Saturdays off affecting 200 workers. Night shift previously operated continues.

Four Injured In Collision Near Cearfoss

Four persons sustained severe cuts and bruises when two cars collided at a crossroads near Cearfoss last night around 11. Mrs Cecilia Brubaker and Wilma Brubaker 8 were among the injured along with Woodrow Reedy 18 and Betty Lou Faust 8. Brubaker and Eccard families involved. no fractures reported after hospital exam. Deputy Renner investigated the collision.

COB Members Leave Today for Cascade

Members of Company B Maryland National Guard under Captain Carl L McCleary left Hagers town for Camp Ritchie at Cascade at noon. A full company of 64 men and three officers will undergo two weeks of intensive training in tactics marksman ship combat exercises and overnight maneuvers. Presbyterians To Hold Big Reunion at Pen Mar Park

Presbyterians from North South and United churches will meet at Pen Mar Park for the 59th reunion on Thursday August 3 gathering from Virginia West Virginia Maryland Delaware and Pennsylvania. Rev Dr Samuel R Diehl of Martinsburg will speak on The Message of Calvinism for Today. A program includes recognition of Francis Makemie and the 250th anniversary of organized Presbyterianism in America. Rev A Fred Kullmar of Kensington MD will speak on The Beginnings of Organized Presbyterianism in America. James McKinley Rose of New York City will read and a quartet will sing. The Rev Dr William S Wess is chairman and special rates will be offered from Western Maryland Railroad. Many locals expected to attend.

Alley Ready To Leave Hospital

Walter Alley a Missouri ex convict charged as the alleged slayer of Henry Lee a Fulton County Pennsylvania farmer was described as rapidly improving at a Martinsburg hospital from wounds received in a gun battle with officers and likely to be released today. Sheriff Ray M Sipes is expected to bring the papers for extradition to Pennsylvania. The State Police named Leonard Schanholtz a Lee neighbor who witnessed the shooting and identified Lee as the killer. He said Lee and Schanholtz were returning home when they saw a man lying on the Lee property and Lee was shot as he approached. The attacker fled to the mountains.
