Fight Mountaineers at Roanoke Camp Shows Fire Exchange
E Moorman of the N and WL engineering corps reached Roanoke and said about 50 mountaineers attacked the engineers camp seeking to drive them from the mountains. About 75 shots were exchanged but no one in the camp was hurt. Hiram Bowermaster, the mountaineer jailed in Carlisle for killing George Philips near Shippensburg, has been robbed since his arrest. Thieves raided his Big Flat South Mountain cabin taking clothing dishes flour meat and coffee.

Death in Storm Hits Baltimore City Hard
A Sunday storm devastated Baltimore causing at least one death and multiple injuries. It left 200 houses unrooted, damaged harbor shipping, severed outside communications, toppled trees, disrupted streetcar service, and damaged electrical facilities. Several drownings and fatalities occurred including a mother and three children off Fort McHenry and others in area incidents. The damage estimate starts at $1,000,000.
