First Rounds in Handicap To Be Played

First rounds in the mid-summer handicap for women golfers will be played off in the coming week at Fountain and Country Club. By next Wednesday, the first rounds are to be completed. A nine hole putting contest, the regular ladies day bill, was won by Mrs. R. B. Norment, runner up.

Park Picnic Highlights Altruistic Class Event

GSO Circle Hosts Picnic For Visiting Service Men

Weather permitting the Girls' Service Organization Circle led by Miss Jane Elliott will sponsor a picnic supper at City Park for 25 visiting service men tonight. If rain, the event moves to the YMCA auditorium and marks the first USO sponsored gathering with a nominal fee for both men and junior hostesses.

Girls Camp To Close This Week At Peniel Thurmont

Y M C A girls and counselors close the second week at Camp Peniel Thurmont with a gala show and honors. The cabin led by Miss Helen Hays won near quarters emblem. A minstrel, a one act playlet, and a bathing beauty contest highlight the program plus a Gay Nineties fashion show. Thirty five campers remain for the rest of the week.
