In downtown Cleveland yesterday two people were killed and three wounded in a ten minute gunfight at the Cuyahoga County Relief Administration. Police said a riot squad responded after crowds sought relief, with Patrolman James Weseley attacked and Officer Thomas Gibbons fatally wounded. Seven people were arrested as disturbances spread to four other relief offices before being quelled.

Glass Held On Assault Charge Arraigned in Sharpsburg
Isaiah Glass, Sharpsburg mechanic, arraigned yesterday before Mag istrate Frank Thomas on a charge of assault with intent to kill his wife. He was recommitted to the Washington County Jail pending outcome of injuries. The wife was beaten with a hammer on the night of June and found on a bloodstained bed by officers. She was rushed to Washington County Hospital and remained in jail since the incident. Hospital staff warned an operation may be needed on her head in a few days. Her condition was listed as satisfactory.

Hanover Pa July 14 The Emmanuel Reformed Church consistory criticized the Potomac Synod for denouncing capitalism and calling for the overthrow of the economic order. The consistory adopted a resolution opposing the synod as erratic and revolutionary and asserting the church has benefited from the established system. The Potomac Synod had declared capitalism contrary to the Kingdom of God, urging reform at its Frederick meeting. The Emmanuel body says the issue is political, not moral, and citizens should act freely without church influence.
