McKeesport Pennsylvania July 12 A jobless steelworker Albert Black 25 killed his 23 year old bride Betty Black two months after their wedding and then used the last bullet to take his own life after police tried to subdue him with tear gas. After a quarrel she refused his repeated requests to kiss her and he opened fire. A rooming house tenant later found Betty dead from bullet wounds in the head and chest. Black barricaded himself in a nearby home and fatally shot himself when he emerged.

New Explosive Plant Planned for Navy Manufacturing
Rear Admiral Blandy disclosed to the House Naval Committee a new type of explosive and a plan for a complete new 70 million dollar plant to manufacture it. Baltimore July 12 The State Roads Commission has paid only a little more than a quarter of the Chesapeake Hay Ferry rebate tickets. Chief Auditor William A. Codd said about 216 806 has been paid to holders. The rebates, issued after an injunction blocked reduced fares, are worth about 65 000 and were started when the state took over operation on June 10. Redemption runs through August 31.
