Sheriff Foils Jail Delivery Plot At Local Prison
Sheriff S M Eline and deputies stopped an attempted jail break after inmates found two Iran pieces hidden in cells. The plan involved Stella Staley and Clarence Davis aiding escapes, armed with a revolver acid and small saws but no weapons were recovered. Staley and Davis were previously fined 500 dollars and one year in the House of Correction for soliciting, and remain in jail to serve the fines before transfer.

A summer hotel for cats and dogs is to be added to the Animal Shelter of the Washington County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The new facility will house six more dogs and four cats, with modern ventilation and careful care by Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Easterday. The shelter, on South Boulevard, has been at capacity all summer, forcing some dogs to be tied in the yard or kept in small kennels.
