Washington July 6 The Roosevelt administration released a population projection from the population problems committee forecasting a peak near 158 million by 1988, followed by a decline into older age cohorts. It warns immigration relaxation or higher birth rates could alter the trend though long term effects may be favorable for resource balance. Blue and Gray veterans held for hospital transfer in Gettysburg
On the eve of departure from the exhibition, eight Union and two Confederate veterans plus two attendants were taken to hospitals with injuries described as not serious. Two Die As Tank Explodes In Texas Incident
A fuel tank explosion at a Texas cafe in George Wear burns two people dead and injures 12 others, including a San Antonio child and a cafe cook. The blast happened while a truck driver was refilling the tank, destroying a cafe, a residence and three automobiles.
