Concert Tonight Boosts Floyd Sherman Benefit at St John’s

A large advance sale is reported for the Floyd Sherman benefit concert at St John’s Lutheran Auditorium tonight under the Chamber of Commerce. Sherman will be assisted by his mother and instructors Prof C H Roderick Prof Rey A McMichael and Miss Doris Nigh. He leaves July 15 for New York to study under Mrs A A Parker and will sing in St Mark’s Episcopal Church choir. Local clubs urged attendance to support the promising young tenor.

Local Negro Is Given "Cut" Term

A man named Robert Smith who claimed to run a store at North and Jonathan streets was sentenced to four months in the Frederick House of Correction by Justice Sherman P. Bowers. He was arrested early yesterday with two colored women near the Frederick Country Club by State Police Sergeant Cassidy, with four gallons of alleged liquor found.

Nevins Executed for Murder in Ohio Penitentiary

Columbus reports James T. Nevins was electrocuted at the Ohio penitentiary for the murder of his cell mate Dean Prentiss from the Cuyahoga county jail in Cleveland. He went to the chair at 8 48 p.m. and was pronounced dead at 8 51 p.m.

George Returns to Buckingham Palace After Convalescence

King George and Queen Mary arrived at Buckingham Palace after Windsor amid one of the era's largest popular demonstrations. Crowds cheered as the monarch, visibly restored, appeared on a balcony with the royal couple, with ambulances and police assisting along the route and many Americans among the celebrants.

Auto wreck injures Martinsburg youth on Cearfoss pike

An early morning crash on the Cearfoss pike involved six occupants from Martinsburg including two girls and two men and two ducks. One youth sustained injuries treated by Dr. A L Kelm while Deputy Geuff investigated the wreck.
