The Boy Scouts sponsored parade on the eve of the Fourth will award 30 in prizes. Three first prizes of five dollars go to most patriotic, most comic, and most original floats. Bond posted after raid on bookmaking suspected operation
Rudolph Shoemaker was arrested in a raid by Hagerstown Police Department Flying Squadron on a warrant charging violation of the state bookmaking law. The third floor of a South Potomac street building yielded note sheets race forms and betting paraphernalia. He was released on $1000 bond for a Thursday hearing before Magistrate John B Dunn. A phone call reportedly came in during the raid and one of the squadron members allegedly received the bet.

A 250 ton crankshaft forging hammer built by Chambersburg Engineering for Buick Motors undergoes its final tests.
