He left Blodgett Hospital as an outpatient Jan 22 with plan for weeks of recovery. Dr Ferris N Smith who did the operation at no charge said the case is promising and the youth hopes to return to his machinist job in Chicago. He had pleaded guilty to attempting to extort 5000 from his employer to fund the operation and faced leniency amid sympathy and offers of help. The boy’s birth facial structure caused a perpetual scowl and taunts from classmates prior to treatment.
