Eight Killed Ten Injured In Bus Train Crash

At a suburban railroad station near St Louis a collision between a Wa bash passenger train and a city bus killed eight and injured ten. The bus caught fire. some victims died from burns while three bodies were found along the right of way. Train passengers were unharmed. Emergency aid and blood plasma were dispatched to St Louis County Hospital. A watchman had left his post 46 minutes before the crash. Later, a sale of public notices and a retailer meeting are noted in the same dispatch.

Irvin W. Linebaugh, veteran projectionist from this city, was inducted into the United States Navy last week and will report for active duty. Former chief projectionist at the Maryland Theatre, he has 16 years with Warner Brothers' Theatres and may operate motion picture equipment in the Navy. He resides on Guilford Avenue.

Fourth War Loan drive details and bond sales update

The Fourth War Loan opened January 18 and closes February 15 with three bond types on sale within opening dates. Interest accrues after February 1 on all subscriptions except individual $500 and $1,000 certificates. War bonds BE F G and tax savings bonds C are sold anytime. Purchases in January and February credited to the drive if cleared through the Fed by February 29. A German Messerschmitt plane will tour Washington county around February 2 to 5. Warner Brothers Theatre reports $8,500 in bond purchases to date for the February 2 band premiere, with more updates expected.

Moose Lodge Aims for War Bond Total in Hagerstown
