Annapolis Md Jan 22 Governor Albert C Ritchie said the chaos of opinion in the Wickersham commission report shows the prohibition problem belongs to states and communities. He argued the federal government wrongly took the issue from the people and urged returning it to local control for trial by each state and community.

Bids Opened on Pipe for City Sewer Project
Bids for 15000 feet of concrete and terra cotta pipe for the city sewer will be opened at a special Mayor and Council meeting tonight. Also bids for sewer construction on the west side of Guilford avenue between Gerlinger and Howard will be opened. The north end project bond issue has been approved by the State Board of Health, but signatures of Governor Ritchie and Attorney General Lane are not yet obtained. They are expected before week’s end. City Engineer Harold Seibert has completed trunk line specifications and work is set to begin soon.

Myers Girl Dies Result Of Burns
Verna May Myers seven year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Alvey Myers died at Washington Hospital from burns received when their Middleburg home burned after a gasoline lantern exploded early Monday. Father and older brother were also burned but recovering while another daughter escaped injured. The body to be taken to Fort Loudon for funeral services.
