Government cuts fuel oil rations for eastern states
The United States government ordered a 40 percent cut in non essential fuel oil rations for commercial industrial and governmental users in 17 eastern states and the District of Columbia. Heating oil remains exempt and essential operations include newspapers radio telecom hospitals transportation water and food plants. Deliveries of other fuel oil to non heating users are banned after February 2 unless ration sheets are surrendered for reduction.
