Three Washington County Men Given Prison Terms
In Franklin County Court at Chambersburg Judge Davison sentenced three Washington County men to long terms in the Eastern Pennsylvania Penitentiary. Aria Carbaugh pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and battery on Constable John Carthaugh of Mercersburg, receiving from one and a half to three and a half years. He was arrested for larceny in Huntingdon, Pa. Harry and Samuel Houpt pleaded guilty to robbing the Strickley and Gillan warehouse in Mercersburg on December 13, with sentences of three to five years plus fines of $25 and costs. their prior records led to doubled sentences. The brothers lived in Hagerstown. Carbaugh formerly near Funkstown.
