Deputy Leister Tsanogle shot 18 pigeons from the county court house roof using a .22 loaded with bird shot to reduce a growing pigeon population after complaints about sanitary conditions. The operation follows the death of William F Thurston whose trapping reduced birds previously.
Indio California January 6 Blonde Marie McDonald with a bruised face and cracked teeth was found wandering in the desert in night attire after claiming two kidnappers pushed her from a car during a high speed ride from Los Angeles. A Los Angeles truck driver reported a woman in night clothes hitching his truck near Cactus City and said she was hysterical. She was taken to Coachella Valley Hospital in Indio, where doctors reported her condition improving but with facial injuries.
Republican leaders in Hagerstown reported progress toward a mayoral candidate but no name was officially announced. John C. Witnesses recalled passengers being thrown to the floor as the bus braked to avert the crash.
