Navy Reports Sinking Of Two Destroyers
The Navy disclosed the loss of a destroyer in the Atlantic on Christmas Eve and another near lower New York bay from a blast of undetermined origin. A Berlin broadcast called a terror attack hit the Villa Perosa bearing plant eight per cent of Nazi gearings, 23 miles from Turin. Bombers struck Villa Perosa and nearby buildings housing workers, likely taking the plant out of operation for some time as rail yards and industrial targets near Turin were also hit with fires starting from concentrated bombs.
