Legion Attendants Distribute Christmas Treats in Counties
American Legion posts in Hancock and Berkeley Springs gave over 1,000 Christmas treats to children in the area during the holidays. Uniformed members helped police with traffic direction and organized 600 treats for Berkeley Springs youngsters.

Ruritans Mark Road Opening In Keedysville
On New Year’s Day the Keedysville Ruritan Club gathered at 1 pm to dedicate a new road entrance to Keedysville Grammar School. The 1000 foot path off Bakle's Mill Road, widened by the board of education, was opened under the supervision of Eugene Geary. Mayor Charles K. Taylor cut the cord to open the road, with 25 members witnessing, and a first trip via a school bus. The road will be used by buses and cars but remains to be hard surfaced.

Mr and Mrs Elijah H Campbell of Highfield announce the marriage of their daughter Algeria May to Private Dean Allen Callender son of Mr and Mrs Lindsey Callender of Route Two Conneaut Lake Pennsylvania. The ceremony was performed by Reverend Claude H Corl at St Stephens Evangelical and Reformed Church Highfield on Friday evening December 28 at six o clock. The bride attended Smithsburg High School and is a clerk in Gearhart's Pharmacy. The groom graduated from Linesville High School and is an MP in the United States Army at Fort Ritchie. They will live with the bride's parents while Callender is stationed at Fort Ritchie.

A New Year Eve gala in the Rainbow Room at Hotel Hamilton drew about eighty B'nai Brith members and ladies. An orchestra from Chambersburg played dances as the party opened at 10 pm.
