Miss Margaret R Stottlemeyer formerly of Beaver Creek earns praise for vivid character study and color in portraits and life drawings. Notable pieces include life sketches of Mark Twain, a miniature of Mrs Anna Roosevelt Dall, and a refined portrait of Mrs Cornelius Vanderbilt.
Miss Stottlemeyer features a collection of miniatures noted for capturing atmosphere and expression of famous show figures. The exhibit includes portraits sketched from life in courtrooms and social settings and paintings of Admiral Byrd and Mrs. Byrd, created at the Byrd home.
The Civil Works Administration received word that 100 more men will be needed immediately for a Camp Ritchie project, with Frederick county supplying another 100. Over 300 workers are already on CWA projects via the reemployment office. New work planned on Potomac avenue, Frederick street, and school grading will start soon, with about 550 city workers currently employed.
