State Wide Dog Law To Be Introduced In Maryland
ANNAPOLIS Md Feb 23 A bill to establish a uniform state wide dog control law will be introduced in the House Delegate Royal H Carlock D Montgomery one of the sponsors said today. The measure would provide dog pounds and ambulance service humane disposition of unwanted dogs and a standard licensing system. About one fourth of license fee revenues would stay with county treasurers and 75 percent would be reserved for enforcement if the law passes.

Army men with ties to Hagerstown region receive honors and news
Cpl Robert W. South of an Ordnance unit in Belgium reunites with brother in law S/Sgt Michael Sarne after two years. South and S/Sgt Donald Staley from Hagerstown also meet in Belgium. South has 14 months in ETO and wears good conduct and three ETO stars. Sarne bears the ETO ribbon good conduct badge infantry badge and purple heart. William J. Harper promoted to staff sergeant at an English air base and awarded third Oak Leaf Cluster to the Air Medal after a seven day furlough with his uncle Cpl Harold E. Harper. Pfc Frank J. Kroeger cited for Combat Infantryman Badge by the 351st Infantry Regiment of the 88th Division. Pfc Paul E. Reed, veteran of over 550 days of combat, served in Tunisia Cassino and Italy. The 19th Combat Engineer Regiment helped clear mines and maintain roads and bridges across the Mediterranean theater, noted for removing over 15,000 mines at Sened and rebuilding thousands of miles of road and hundreds of bridges in the Italian campaign. The unit, arriving overseas in August 1942, is praised as a Jack of all Trades. (Continued on Page 5).
