Fire destroys chicken house on Clever farm near Leiteling
Fire of undetermined origin Saturday night destroyed the Clever farm chicken house housing White Leghorn birds. Winds aided the blaze, with damage estimated near 150 dollars. Deputy Gonif investigated and suggested wiring may have caused the fire. Nearby firemen prevented damage to adjacent buildings. Also, Lester Oswald of Smithsburg was fined 25 dollars for speeding after a short pursuit on the Cave Town pike.

Wife asks court to declare husband dead in Pennsylvania
Mrs Dora E Carman of Franklin County seeks a legal death finding for her husband Harry Carmen who has not been heard from since September 1922. They wed in 1908 and lived mainly in Greencastle. He went to California in 1926 and letters stopped in 1922. A $500 death benefit from Jr C U A M remains due. The judge signaled a decree on the presumption of death.
