Frigid air spreads from the Plains to the upper Mississippi Valley with subzero readings and heavy snow. Officials issued cold warnings across the region as northern winds bite, complicating efforts in ongoing Israel talks and shaping travel and daily life.
Five day outlook shows Saturday mainly cloudy with moderate temperatures and rain possible in western Maryland by Saturday night. Sunday turns cloudy and colder with rain or snow likely. Monday slightly warmer, Wednesday rain or snow likely. Temperatures near normal, precipitation about half an inch. Afternoon highs near 40 in western Maryland, lower in eastern regions. early lows from the upper 20s to the 60s in western areas.
North Dakota and Montana reported subzero readings with many areas at zero or below. A cold front stretched from the Texas Panhandle through eastern Kansas, central Iowa, to western Wisconsin, bringing heavy snow from the Dakotas to the upper Midwest. Amarillo Texas recorded 22 and Hobark Oklahoma 48 as strong northerly winds spread snow across the plains and into the Mississippi Valley. Snow totals reached 4 to 7 inches in parts of South Dakota and over 4 inches in Minneapolis, with freezing rain and snow mixing in Kansas and the Panhandle.

A favorable temperance committee report moves a bill banning Sunday beer sales and delivery in West Virginia. Delegate Luke F.
