Student From Germany Enters U S to Teach History
A German student who spent four years in England arrived in the United States on November 21. Her mother resides in Dusseldorf, Germany. She applied for admission in 1928 and was admitted recently. She was impressed by campus friendliness and hopes to teach history at a college after graduation.

Employment on Increase in Maryland Jobs
State Employment Service reports January placements rising due to defense program activity. Baltimore office led with 3108 placements, a 74 percent rise from last year, while other offices in Hagerstown Frederick Cumberland Salisbury Towson Westminster posted gains. Total 5332 jobs found. applications dropped from 60827 to 47960 as skilled workers and trained personnel remain in short supply. Weights Measures Bill Is Introduced In Annapolis
ANNAPOLIS Md Feb 5 Legislation to establish a State Division of Weights and Measures was introduced in the Senate under sponsorship of the Legislative Council. The bill provides for a state superintendent a deputy superintendent and at least 14 inspectors chosen under the merit system. Rules regulations specifications and tolerances for weighing and measuring devices aligned with the National Bureau of Standards would be issued and enforced by the superintendent.
