Plan for Merger of Two Synods Approved by Maryland Classis
The Maryland Classis of the Reformed Church voted to unite the Reformed Synod and the Evangelical Synod. The General Synod previously approved the plan, needing two thirds of all classes to approve before enactment. The merger would unite about 760000 members and align doctrines, with regional strengths in the East and Midwest. The move aims to merge general governance and missionary work later.

Man Arrested for Parole Violation Near York
Raymond Rockwell about 30 was arrested last night by Sergeant Desmond for York Pa authorities who charge he violated his parole by crossing the Pennsylvania line. He was taken from his West Side Avenue home and said he would return without extradition papers after serving 10 months for entering freight car.

The Hagerstown Motor Company building on Summit avenue sold in front of the Court House yesterday afternoon by Auctioneer Fred M. White for 21 975. A lot adjoining brought 5 465. White also sold Keller farm of 125 acres near Samples Manor for 2500 and Samuel Eckstine frame house on Paper Mill road for 655, purchased by J. F. Williams. Samuel B. Myers property sold for 300 to Estella M. Ingram.

Bill to enforce waterways cleanup presented in Annapolis
Delegate Raymond H Miller introduced a House bill in Annapolis to compel owners or tenants of land along streams to keep waterways free of obstructions regardless of cause. Violators would face a fine of 5 to 10 dollars. In Frederick a heavy fine was imposed for drunken driving on Herbert C Tribett of Relay. He must pay 300 dollars and costs or serve three months in jail and also serve three months for assault and battery related to an attack on Pearl Skages II.
