Sea monster sighted near Cape Lookout on Grace Line ship
On December 31 1947 the Grace Line steamer Santa Clara 118 miles east of Cape Lookout reported a sea monster sighting after encountering a large creature off the starboard bow. Mates William Humphreys John Rigney and John Axelson observed a 35 foot long body with a red stained wake and thrashing motion as the monster disappeared astern.

City May Seek State Takeover of Virginia Avenue Section
The City of Hagerstown may ask the State Roads Commission to take over a 2000 foot section of Virginia Avenue from Wilson Boulevard to the corporate limits as part of the Williamsport pike reconstruction.
