Representatives from 29 churches in Hagers town and Washington County met at the Y M C A to oppose Sunday showings. Petition signings totalled about 1 000 across Grace United Brethren St Pauls Methodist and others. Church leaders sought sermons and widespread signatures to curb the Sunday theater movement.

Tommy Touhy Sought in Brooklyn Armored Car Raid
Chicago dispatch reports Tommy Touhy fugitive boss of the Touhy gang linked as an ally of Joseph Burns in the $427,000 Brooklyn armored car robbery last August. Burns, captured as an Indiana life-termer, allegedly identified Touhy as a participant. Capt. Stege indicated Burns talked and that Dillinger jail escapes were “practically cleared up.”
