The Dorcas Bible Class of Mt Tabor Lutheran Sunday School Fairview held its annual Christmas party at the home of Rev and Mrs Luther Hare Clearspring. The National Defense Training Center building at West Washington Street School nears completion. Exterior work finished. plumbing heating and wiring underway. Equipment mostly on order. courses planned to start Jan 6 with four shops and up to 360 trainees daily across three eight hour shifts. Courses run about eight weeks for local adults and out-of-school youths.
The boards of Education and County Commissioners approve a defense materials training project costing about $20,000 for the county to fund with the Federal government covering equipment, instruction, and materials. Many applicants over 18 have registered. interviews will select those accepted. William H. Miller oversees construction. Miller and Liskey handle the electrical contract. Fridinger Co. handles plumbing and heating. A. J. Kaimkhart is architect.
